WANTED! IMPERSONATORS OF FAMOUS PRINCE GEORGIANS FOR TRICENTENNIAL CELEBRATION:

A Tricentennial roster of historic reenactors and citizens interested in portraying people from Prince George's County's past is being developed. If you have an alter ego -- or are interested in portraying a specific historic character or a more general member of society -- you are invited to participate. The reenactors will appear at a variety of Tricentennial functions and events throughout 1996.

We are looking for some important persons from the past, including Commodore Joshua Barney; Prince George of Denmark, and his wife Princess Anne (later Queen Anne); several members of the Plummer family, descendants of Cupid Plummer, a slave of the Calve rt family; Cecil Calvert; Wilbur and Orville Wright; Mary Surratt; Dr. William Beanes; and Thomas Boyne, one of three Prince Georgians to receive the Congressional Medal of Honor. Many others will be represented, including residents from various walks of life in the last 300 years. Reenactors are being sought to portray artists, teachers, and traveling preachers as well as judges, politicians, and working men and women.

Reenactors may be required to learn scripted material and be able to converse freely with guests and audience in the personality of the historic character, or they may simply be asked to attend an event in costume, adding "window dressing" and authentic flavor. Honoraria may be provided in various ranges from appearance fees for professional reenactors, to costume maintenance fees for non-speaking roles. Costumes will be provided for those without their own attire.

For further information or to request a Reenactors Registration Form, contact Dr. Carolyn Bock at 301-454-1459, TTY 301-454-1472.
