PG Tricentennial Prince George's County:
Over 300 years of History

Drawing of Sasquesahanok
Indian Village
Piscataway / Sasquesahanok Indian Village
------------------------------
The principal villages of the Indians in the Chesapeake region were usually stockaded. The Indians lived not in tepees, but in small houses covered with bark or rush mats. This drawing actually portrays a Susquehannock village farther north, but Piscataway villages were quite similar. The palms and cattle in the drawing are inaccurate embellishments.
