Troops at Ft. Lincoln

These black troops were photographed at Fort Lincoln. Prince George's planters complained that Union soldiers encouraged their slaves to leave their plantations and enlist in the Union Army; some of Prince George's blacks did indeed serve the Union cause. Courtesy of the National Archives.
