CHORAL WINNING COMPOSERS ANNOUNCED FOR COUNTY TRICENTENNIAL CONCERTS

Three Prince George's County composers have been named as winners in the call for score proposals in celebration of the county's Tricentennial year, 1996. The works of all three composers will receive their premieres during performances of "Many Voices, One Song" concerts by area choruses, choirs and music organizations. The "Many Voices" project celebrates 300 years of music in Prince George's County, and the role of the American hymn tune in the county's educational, spiritual and social growth.

At least two joint concerts featuring county choral groups are planned, with the final Massed Choirs Celebration on November 17, 1996, at The Show Place Arena in Upper Marlboro. All county choruses and choirs from community groups, churches and schools are invited to participate. For further information contact Dr. Carolyn Bock at (301)454-1459; TTY (301) 454-1472.
